circa 1868, converted likely from 10.4 Vetterli, 26 1/4in. nitro reproved (in 2022) barrel, signed 'A. Marletaz, Lausanne' at the breech-end, dove-tailed bead fore-sight, adjustable notch rear sight, the action marked 'PEABODY'S PAT. JULY. 22. 1862, MAN'F'D BY PROVIDENCE TOOL CO. PROV. R.I.' on the left side, plain back-action lock, retaining traces of blued finish, walnut butt stock, half-length fore-end with single iron barrel-band, 13 1/2in. pull including steel buttplate, leather sling, weight 8lb. 110oz.
